We’re looking for two law graduates to join as Consumer Resolution Advocates. The role will be a 12-month, full-time, fixed term secondment for one of two leading global automotive brands.
CIE Legal is a Melbourne based firm that advises Australian and international consumer brands on their commercial legal issues. We deliver high quality services and an environment for our people that means they enjoy being at work.
This role is ideally suited to candidates who have completed, or almost completed, their Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) qualification.
You should not apply if you have been admitted to practice as a legal practitioner as this can prejudice your ability to appear in consumer tribunals.
The details
This is a fast-paced role at the cutting edge of consumer complaints, responsible for:
- providing guidance and recommendations on the resolution of customer complaints in accordance with Australian Consumer Law
- communicating with customers in response to legally escalated complaints
- communicating with customers’ legal representatives
- drafting submissions and preparing evidence in response to customer tribunal claims
- appearing as our client’s representative at consumer tribunal conciliations, mediations and hearings across Australia.
The successful candidates will possess strong academic records, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will be confident and autonomous operators who are grounded and enjoy a supportive and fun workplace. Advocates will be comfortable with difficult conversations with customers and colleagues. Experience in customer service is helpful but not mandatory.
As a Consumer Resolution Advocate, you will be employed by CIE Legal and seconded to work directly at our client’s Melbourne office. You will support the client’s Customer Relations team and Legal Department, working alongside senior executives and other key personnel. You will also be guided and mentored in the performance of the role by the CIE Legal team.
This is a unique opportunity for two candidates to gain legal experience in-house that would be almost impossible to get in a graduate position in private practice. It is an exciting step on the path to developing your legal career.
The positions are full time for a 12-month fixed term. The successful candidates may choose to complete their PLT requirements during the secondment to be eligible for admission to practice at the end of the term.
Salary packages will be commensurate with positions for graduate lawyers who have not been admitted to practice.
