M&A

Advising the Optimus Group on the acquisition of Autocare Transport group. Check out the article in the Australian Financial Review and Go Auto. The deal completes in April.

Contracts

Advised global technology company on sporting icon ambassador contract and brand campaign.

Regulatory

Advising an Australian global brand on a potential product contamination recall.

Disputes

Successfully acting for a property developer and owner in the County Court in a protracted dispute. After a 3-week trial, our clients were wholly successful and obtained indemnity costs orders.

Out and about

On 29 February, we held our second Women’s Networking Lunch. Nicole Wilson hosted the event where speaker Mikaela Stafrace, CEO of WomenCAN Australia, shared her career story. WomenCAN provides women with training, jobs and a unique programme of career support, to enable them to engage in the workforce confidently and for the long-term.

Andrew Thompson was profiled in Australasian Lawyer, sharing his thoughts on how the profession needs to improve and what he’d be doing if he wasn’t a lawyer (clue: it involves wine!).

Andrew Maher presented at the Australian Data and Insights Association 2024 Leaders Forum and met Angelene Falk, the Australian Information Commissioner.

We launched CIE Counsel, our service that eases the burden of business-as-usual work for busy organisations. Jennifer Espie

Jennifer Espie joined us in April to work within Andrew Maher’s employment team. With over 5 years prior experience at a commercial law firm, her passion for employment law and critical eye are a real asset to the team.

Dylan Olley

Dylan Olley joined in March as a Graduate Lawyer. Dylan has been working for CIE Legal as a Consumer Advocate at Stellantis while he completed his Practical Legal Training, and we’re delighted he’s accepted a permanent position with us.

Ines Balint

Ines Balint (Senior Associate in our employment team) welcomed Aleksander to the world on 27 March, little brother to Alina. Congratulations to Ines and the whole family!
